When I moved this site from Jekyll to Hugo, I missed jekyll-scholar, which generated citations and bibliographies from BibTeX files. I wondered if I’d write a replacement. Well, I finally did: hugo-scholar.

It reads BibTeX files and provides shortcodes for citations and bibliographies. For LaTeX users, it offers a familiar experience. It now powers my publications page and several older posts. Version 0.1.0 is out; give it a try if that sounds useful to you.
